My sister and I are planning to go to Korea to teach English together. I know that for married couples you submit a marriage certificate to gain joint housing but can you give any insight into how to do this with siblings. Also did you both teach at the same school or separate ones?

Hi Kortnee, thanks for reading! I really have no idea what the situation is like if you want to live with your sibling, but I don’t see why it would be a problem. Koreans are very family oriented, and many Koreans live with family members until they are married. A lot of the jobs are pitched as “couples jobs,” meaning there are two jobs open at the same time within a close distance of each other. It’s not usually at the same school. For us, I was at the elementary school and my husband was at the middle school, but they were only about a ten minute walk away from each other. The best thing to do is to talk to a recruiter, and to see if they can find you couples jobs to apply for and give you any insight into getting joint housing. Good luck!
