Welcome to Koh Chang: A Little Piece of Paradise on Earth

View from the ferry

I’m going to skip around a little chronologically for the next week or so in the coverage of our time in Thailand. In reality, we spent a few days in Bangkok both before and after going to Koh Chang, but for simplicity’s sake, I’m going to skip over that first trip, and cover our time in Koh Chang before I delve in Bangkok.

We experienced Koh Chang, Thailand quite a bit differently than most every other place we visited–and why’s that you ask? Because some of our besties Alison and Marc (whose wedding we flew back to the States for last April) joined us there! Therefore, while most of our trip felt more like hardcore backpacking traveling, this portion felt like an actual vacation. We spent the majority of our time sunning ourselves on the beach (Alison and I), golfing with a sea view (Matt and Marc), and eating our weight in good food (all of us). We were on a smallish island without very many cultural or tourist attractions, which freed us from our punishing, self inflicted travel styke of WE MUST SEE EVERYTHING IN THE WHOLE WORLD RIGHT NOW! It allowed us to simply relax and enjoy ourselves.

So despite the fact that we spent ten days on Koh Chang, the longest we stayed in one place on our entire trip, we’ll only spend a few days talking about our time there. I mean, as much as I loved it, there’s only so much you can say about laying on the beach and swimming in the sea all day! So in the meantime, here are some of the sights of Koh Chang, a little island paradise.

Wow! These photos are amazing. I love the one what looks like a bright, blue mini river running between the sand and trees. It makes me want to go run and play in it! :)

Great post about Koh Chang, I’ve been living there for now 2 years and it still amazes me, I guess we never get tired of the sunsets and walks in the jungle. The low season has started now which means the island is getting rid of 70% of its population, different atmosphere, different people, more locals, more space, the island is taking a good rest after the crazy high season( nothing compared to Phuket or Samui though).. hope you’ll make it back here!

I bet the island is super nice without tourists! Do most of the restaurants stay open all year?
