Burger B’s: Gourmet Burger’s in Seoul

Recently Matt and I met up with the lovely people from World Flavor, Waegook Tom, The Wanderlust Project, Nomadic Samuel, That Backpacker and Farsickness for a little Korea-bloggers meet-up! We met at Burger B’s in Hongdae, a gourmet little burger joint tucked away on a back street in one of Seoul’s hippest neighborhoods. Apparently, the chef spent some time in the United States. After tasting what actual burgers should taste like, he came back to Korea, started his restaurant, and now makes authentic, American-style burgers–he refuses to “Koreanize” them in any way.

Usually Matt and I try to order different meals so we can try a couple of things, but this time, we both had our hearts set on the The Ultimate Burger. This delicious hunk of meat came topped with gruyère cheese, carmelized onions and truffle aoili. Um, yes please. It also came with a side of shoestring fries and a shot (as in, in an actual shot glass) of vanilla milkshake. So needless to say, there was no sharing going on.

In addition to having amazing burgers, Burger B’s also had a good selection of beers and mixed drinks. Matt had a pint of dark Guinness, and I had a deliciously strong raspberry daiquiri.

While the food and drinks were amazing, the server’s seemed a bit flustered. I’m not sure if that was due to the size of our group or if they were understaffed, because the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy that day. Other than that, we had no complaints. If you find yourself in Hongdae or Apgujeong and are craving an authentic, gourmet burger, Burger B’s is your place!

Here are directions to the Burger B’s in Hongdae, and here are the directions to their other location in Apgujeong.

Yes! Delicious. I can’t recommend their mac and cheese though (unless you like Velveeta). After that little experiment I’m sticking with burgers. Great picture of the group!

Yummy! Looks delicious! We have a new burger joint in Spokane that makes an amazing burger called the BBQ chipolte burger. Not only does it have a hamburger patty it is topped with pulled pork, bacon, and cheese…and of course the chipolte sauce. Delicious!

That sounds pretty good…I barely ate any meat for the last ten years, and since coming to Korea I’ve become a total carnivore! Plus, now that Western food is harder to come by, it’s all I want!

This place drove me crazy–so many amazing looking pictures and descriptions on the menu, but you have to limit yourself to only one every time. I think I spent more time staring at their menu than I did actually eating their food. It didn’t help that I usually treated my burger like Kobayashi treats a plate of hot dogs. After a few months of bibimbap nothing beats a great burger in my book.

That’s pretty much how we felt! I didn’t know I cared that much about burgers until I had so many delicious sounding options before me!

Yummmmm! It’s so hard to imagine you as a carnivore these days:) I’m glad to see you got to meet up with so many of your “blogger” friends. Was this the first time you had met them? You are certainly meeting some interesting people. After all your food experiences, you won’t want my “farm food” anymore. ha ha.

I’d met two of the bloggers before, for the rest, it was the first time. And while we have had a lot of delicious food…I’ll always love your cooking! 🙂 In fact, I’ve been really missing your baked goods!

Awww shucks. You are sweet. When you get home I’ll bake you and pie and some cookies.

I have been trying to have my fill of hamburgers before we leave for Asia because I have heard that getting authentic ones over ther can be a bit of a trial. Sounds like at least on the food front, however, you were not disappointed!

Yah, there are a few good places, but they’re usually hard to find and expensive. Asia does a lot of things really well, but typically, burgers are not one of those things!

The Korean bloggers meetup was definitely a good idea–a lot of us read each others blogs, but had never met to face to face. It was a good chance to meet the people behind a lot of my favorite blogs 🙂 Definitely check them out!

The Gorgonzola was soooo good! 😀 I just wish it wasn’t such a trek to get to Hondgae from where I live, otherwise I’d be stuffing my face there all the time. Then again, maybe that’s a good thing….

I know! It’s definitely too far away. Have you been to Traveler’s in Seongnam yet? It’s near the AK Plaza…they have good burgers too! Maybe we should have a meet up there, it’s much closer for us!
