First of all, to anyone who is still here — sorry about that unintentionally long blogging break. We traveled for the holidays, and then when we got home I started a new job with a cruise line, which included a business trip at the end of my first week. It’s been a whirlwind! But I’m excited for a year of new adventures, and I’m excited to try to keep sharing them with you all here (as much as time allows). So without further ado, here’s some belated coverage of our holiday travels!
This year we visited Matt’s family in Virginia for the holidays, which allowed us to get in some quality time with family we don’t see much AND have a few days to explore some fun places in Virginia and Washington DC. One of the first fun things we did in DC was tour the Capitol Building, followed by some time spent exploring the Library of Congress. Both buildings were absolutely gorgeous, I love that they both have such a European feel. I would have loved to explore the Library of Congress even more, but unfortunately you need a pass to wander through the actual library portion. I think they’re easy enough to get, but we decided to just visit through the exhibits this time around. And our tour guide at the Capitol Building was super — he knew everything about the history of the US — it definitely put me to shame and made me wish I had paid better attention in high school civics! Here are some of our favorite shots from the day:
